Kidney Failure

Creatinine

This is a chemical in the blood that is secreted by the kidneys everyday.

If the kidneys are not working, the creatinine will go up. This is normally measured in a CMP test.

The problem with this is that one kidney may be completely damaged and half the other kidney is damaged before creatinine will go up.

This will be a sign of kidney failure. This may eventually lead to dialysis and/or kidney transplant.

It is very important to have a record at home to record these results from different physicians. You may want to acquire a medical journal that we make here in the office. Another choice would be to have a notebook dedicated to your medical records. You need to follow up with this yourself, and discuss the results with your physicians.

You may eventually need the help of a kidney specialist called a nephrologist.
